Carajás

49x49x75cm

The third piece from Mobília Puro is the “Carajás” chair, conceived from the need to create a neutral chair for the dining table.
The “Serra dos Carajás”, located in the eastern Amazon region of Brazil, is a stunning mountain range celebrated for its rich biodiversity and unique geological formations. This area is also notable for its significant mineral deposits, including iron, which is a key element of this piece.
The structure of the chair follows the brand’s standard, showcasing the beauty of the hexagon, crafted from wood and divided into two trapezoids that embrace the metal structure of the seat. The backrest is made from steel; instead of using foam, we employ a tensioned leather strip that acts like a spring for added comfort. The solidity of this chair is softened by the presence of a slender seat that appears to float.
Small gaps are created between the union of the wooden trapezoids and the metal structure, allowing light to pass through and highlighting the piece from every angle. An important detail that results in a perfect fit of the different materials.
The “Carajás” chair is characterized by its straight and precise lines, solidity and lightness, simplicity and sophistication. It features a backrest at table height and has no crossbars at the feet.
